With the support of Caritas India, SWAD has been implementing an initiative “Sustainable Livelihood Enhancement” for 2324 (1199 male and 1125 female) poor and marginalized people of 514 households of eight villages in Goudagatha Gram Panchayat, Surada block in Ganjam district, Odisha to improve and manage livelihood options in a sustainable manner since April 2018. The objective of the project is to increase the income of marginal farmers (tribal/Adivasis, women, men and others vulnerable people) through improved on and off farm practices and accessing various government schemes, and are able to take decision for their produces of their own.
Outcomes/Achievements of the Project:
- Functioning of Farmers’ Clubs in all eight target villages consisting of 80 members (10 members in each farmers’ club)
- 32 small and marginal farmers are able to package their produces in a standard way.
- Communities are managing Farmers’ Resource Centre that is established for all farmers of the Gram Panchayat
- 100 Farmers are able to grow varieties of vegetable and pulses plants for consumption and sales.
- 50 farmers are streamlined to rear the livestock and management
- Farmers are able to celebrate the traditional cultivation and first consumption day together as a cluster of eight villages and encourage the neighbouring villages for the same.
