SWAD would like to tap the resourcefulness and rich experience of ‘Disaster Risk Reduction Programs’ that were implemented in Odisha and elsewhere in India by Caritas India and its sister concerns like Catholic Relief Services. It likes to practice the DRR approach to link relief, rehabilitation and development in the Bansidhara delta to facilitate 4627 vulnerable persons from 1670 families of 13 disaster prone villages not just to increase their preparedness or build resilience but to help them manage their own plans for prevention and mitigation of risks related to disasters. SWAD desires to reinforce existing knowledge, skills and practices to alleviate potential risks associated with people’s asset and livelihood.
